Braves leaving town
The news has broken that the Richmond Braves are going to be leaving Richmond in the next year or two and move to Gwinnett County, GA. That is a northern suburb of Atlanta if you, like me, had no idea. Our low attendance numbers and inability to work out a new stadium deal in any reasonable timeframe has given the team the desire to make a change. It also looks like it may be difficult for another team to move here, or maybe not so hard depending on which Times Dispatch article you read. Feel free to share your favorite R-Braves memories in the comments.
Richmond Braves were International League Champs in 2007

As the World Series is here and baseball is a focus of the nation at the moment I thought I would remind all of us Richmonders that our very own Richmond Braves were International League Champions this year. We fought hard down the stretch, got the wildcard spot for the playoffs, and pulled out the victory!
Once the World Series ends we will head into the winter baseball drought that brings sorrow and depression to baseball fans everywhere. But hang in there, spring will come and then you will be able to enjoy great AAA baseball again right here in Richmond!
